House Anniversary

I almost forgot!! --- Happy 1 year anniversary on our house!
Time flies... Felt like we just moved in.
The closing date on our house was June 1, 2009.

Not much has changed from 1 year ago, except we have cute little solar lamps lining the walkway!

We recently purchased a new couch and ping pong table to celebrate! (or just a big coincidence).

We have bigger/greater/debt-inducing projects on our home improvement roadmap including:

1. Increasing our driveway space in the front yard, thus decreasing the amount of lawn we need to upkeep in the front yard. And decreasing my chances of getting a street parking ticket.
   
   
2. Automated driveway gate (this might just be done simultaneously with item #1)
   
   
3. Bigger deeper kitchen cabinets. The current 1940s cabinets are too narrow and shallow to fit anything.
   And lead paint keeps chipping off the cabinets into our bowls/plates/cups. So if are visiting our house, I recommend checking before ingesting food/drinks!
   

No idea when we will do any of the items above... =(

Let's just be friends

By the way, if you did not know,
Truffles and Marbles went from friends ..... to not being friends .... and are now back to being kind-of friends.

Our Jungle

Why is it so hard to grow grass, and vegetables, and flowers....But it's so easy to grow weeds?

If we slack off and not mow the backyard every couple of weeks, then we are greeted by 4 feet tall weeds jungle.

"Hello.  We are weeds.  We come over uninvited and steal nutrients from your garden. Thank you"

We left nothing but a path of destruction.

 "NOES!!!!!!!"

All the places we've been!!

In the last couple of months, we have been out and about!
Let's see... what have we been up to...

Monterey Bay, CA.  oooh look at those choppy waters

We saw a real-life reindeer in Monterey Bay too!  (And Jen learned that reindeers are indeed real)

We went to Balboa Island (near Newport Beach, CA) and gawked at rich people's Christmas decorations. 
In the 1st picture, the entire exterior + yard is lit.  In the 2nd picture, that is penguins on ice in the front yard

We went to New Jersey for a weekend.  Every visit to NJ requires at least a visit to Dunkin' Donuts!
(There is practically a Dunkin' Donut every 300 ft anyways...)

Back home in sunny Los Angeles, where it is ~70 degrees during the wintertime.
We let the guineas (Marbles and Truffles) run in their playpen in the front yard Christmas morning.

Barber shop

Time for Jen to open up a barber shop!
Not only does she cut Jeff's hair, but she also cuts Marble's fur!

May not look like much, but it's actually a good amount of fur!

After the torture, Marbles ran to Jeff for comfort.  Why must Jen be the bad guy?

How adorable..

We finally decided on the names "Truffles" and "Marble" for our two guinea pigs. Truffles for the black guinea pig, and Marbles for the gray/white guinea pig.
